Six of my eight great grandparents were baptised Roman Catholic. Their three marriages were performed by a Roman Catholic
priest.
The marriage of William McKenzie and Jemima Hall, the fourth set of great grandparents, was done by a protestant minister.
Church records have not been found for this marriage, but I believe they must exist somewhere between Manitoba and Ontario.
I believe the record is either a Presbyterian or a Methodist church marriage record.
Their first born son, Dougal McKenzie, was my mother Agnes McKenzies father. He was born on Dec 25 1879. He always celebrated
his birthday on Christmas Day. He had 14 children from my grandmother Virginia Jourdain. She died November of 1925, leaving
a large family without a mother to take care of them. However, in April of 1929, Dougal McKenzie, aged 50 married Christian
Cursiteur of Amisk Lake, Saskatchewan which marriage lasted until 1937, when Christiana passed away because of meningitis.
The marriage record of William McKenzie and Jemima Hall must have occurred sometime between the summer of 1878 and spring
of 1879. William McKenzie arrived in Canada, set foot on the coast of Hudson's Bay, and as it states on his Hudson's Bay
Company contract, began working June of 1878 at Prt of Churchill. He arrived that summer of 1878 at Oxford House, Manitoba.
It was here that he met Jemima Hall who became his wife of 22 years.
